This project aims at reflecting on how aware EFL teachers in Chile are regarding promoting gender equity in their EFL lessons.  After reading the National Plans and Programs for the subject English as a Foreign Language, the teachers involved in this research found out that this program included a call for teachers to develop equality in the classroom and work with diversity. However, it was not explicit about what objectives or topics should be worked on with the students.

Eight Chilean teachers from different regions carried out Action Research in their schools, implementing activities with the purpose of developing gender awareness in their students without stepping outside the National Curriculum.  What they found out and propose may be a good basis for other teachers to work on gender equality through the use of English.

The lead researcher in this project is Leyla Verónica Núñez Aguilera.
