Argentine and UK universities unite in a project to share the UK Ministry of Justice and Met Police´s experience in innovative policy, to create openness and public trust in the justice and security systems

The Higher Education Links programme propelled a project between UCL, UK Ministry of Justice, Met Police and Universidad Austral. At a workshop in Buenos Aires, the UK bodies shared experiences in creating a culture of open government, engagement and trust in the justice and security service. The event united senior officials across the Argentine justice and security systems who generally do not work together, to create awareness of each others´ work, collaborate and ultimately make positive changes in justice and security.

"Many judges and policymakers shared that as a result of the workshop, they could see things could be done differently and would implement changes".

Higher Education Links provides grants for research projects between UK and Argentine universities, with a focus on social impact. In February 2019, a project was launched where Argentine actors in justice and security learned from the UK´s experience in policies of open government, to build transparency and trust.
