Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall visit British Council programmes in Cuba in historical visit.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall made history last week with the first official Royal Visit to Cuba.

During a four day stay, their Highnesses met with local people involved in cultural and educational programmes run by British Council.

The journey took them to the filmmaking workshops Cámara Chica, in the community project Muraleando in the west of the city.

The couple also visited the Cuban music company EGREM and learned about the conservation of national musical heritage. Prince Charles gave recognition to the studio staff for carrying out this work.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall also attended an evening gala hosted by the Cuban Minister of Culture, with the dance company Danza Contemporánea, our partner for the project Islas Creativas.

English teaching and training programmes were also highlighted during this visit. The younger generations of English teachers had a special moment when the winners of the essay contest “Bridges between the UK and Cuba” received their certificates from The Duchess of Cornwall.
