PROMOTING THE BEST OF BRITISH LITERATURE

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the British Council in Colombia, the organisation partnered with the Hay Festival Cartagena, one of the most important international literary festivals in the country and around the world.

The British Council brought over an influential group of British writers and guests representing the best of the UK’s literature, architecture, filmmaking, humanities and activism.  This provided exciting opportunities to speakers and participants alike, and promoted British literature and writing to a large audience in Latin America and beyond.

Among the group were novelist Zadie Smith and lawyer and author Philippe Sands.

The Hay Festival was the inaugural event of the British Council’s 80th anniversary celebrations in Colombia.
